Building and construction in Cameroon, from foundation to finishing

We build houses, shops, offices and commercial blocks on a written schedule, with materials costed before work starts and progress you can see rather than hear about.

What this service covers

Most projects that go wrong here do not collapse. They stall. The money runs out at window level, the mason disappears for a season, or the drawings turn out never to have been approved. Our approach to building and construction in Cameroon is built around removing those three failures before a block is laid.

We take a site from the first visit through to the day you lock the door, and we will say no to work we cannot deliver on the terms we quoted. Everything below is handled in house or by people who answer to us on site, which is the only way building and construction in Cameroon stays accountable to the person paying for it.

Residential building

Family homes, duplexes, compounds and apartment blocks, whether you are building to live in or to let out afterwards.

Commercial and retail

Shops, offices, storage and mixed use buildings designed around how the space will actually earn once it is open.

Foundations and structure

Excavation, footing, columns, beams and slabs sized to the soil results rather than to what was done on the next plot.

Roofing and finishing

Roof structure, covering, plastering, tiling, ceiling, doors, windows and painting taken to a standard you sign off on.

Renovation and extension

Repairing, extending or converting an existing building, including work on properties bought through our own listings.

Site supervision

If you already have a builder, we can supervise instead, checking the work against the drawings and the agreed quantities.

How we carry out this service

Five stages, in this order, on every project. Building and construction in Cameroon only runs to budget when the thinking is finished before the digging starts.

  1. 1

    Site visit and brief

We walk the plot with you, confirm the boundaries and listen to what you actually want to end up with.

  2. 2

    Soil and documents

Soil testing tells us what the ground will carry. We also confirm the title is clean before anyone spends money on it.

  3. 3

    Drawings and costing

Plans drawn for approval, then a bill of quantities so you see the materials, the labour and the timeline in writing.

  4. 4

    Construction

Work runs to the schedule in stages you sign off. You receive progress photographs whether you are in town or abroad.

  5. 5

    Handover

Final inspection, snagging, keys, and the drawings and receipts that belong to you rather than to the contractor.

What you receive at the end of building and construction in Cameroon

A finished building is only half of what you should walk away with. The other half is the paperwork that proves what was done, which is the part most clients discover they are missing years later when they try to sell or insure the property.

Every project we close hands over a complete file. Good records are not an extra in building and construction in Cameroon, they are the proof that the work was done the way you were told it would be, and they cost us nothing to keep.

  • Approved architectural and structural drawings
  • The soil test report for your plot
  • The signed bill of quantities and the final account
  • Receipts for materials bought on your behalf
  • Photographs of the foundation and structure before they were covered
  • A written defects period after handover

Where we build

Kumba is the head office and the site most of our teams work from. We take building and construction in Cameroon across the South West, the Littoral and the Centre.

KumbaOur base, and where most of our building and construction in Cameroon begins. Residential compounds, shops and commercial blocks across Fiango, Buea Road, Kosala and Mambanda.
BueaStudent accommodation, family homes on the mountain side and builds on the plots above Bokwaongo.
LimbeCoastal work where salt air and drainage decide which materials are worth using.
DoualaCommercial space, storage and apartment blocks on tighter urban plots.
YaoundeFamily homes and offices for owners relocating to the capital for work.

How the money works

Cost is the first question and the one contractors answer worst. This is how pricing runs on every building and construction in Cameroon project we take on.

Quoted after the drawings

No figure leaves this office before the soil test and the drawings exist. A price given earlier is a number built to win the job, not to finish the building.

Paid in stages you approve

Money is released against stages you have seen and signed off. Nothing is paid forward against work that has not started, and nothing starts unfunded.

Variations put in writing

If you change your mind mid build, or the ground forces a change, the difference in cost is agreed in writing before the change is made on site.

Why clients hand us the whole build

Frisom Real Estate and Ventures Limited is registered under RC.KBA.2025B.058 and works from Common Wealth Avenue in Kumba, opposite Afriland First Bank. You can walk into the office and find the people responsible for your site.

Because we also sell the land, test the soil, draw the plans and register the title, building and construction in Cameroon is not a separate job we take on at the end. A problem found on the ground reaches the person who drew the plan in the same week, and the cost of fixing it is known before it grows.

We quote in FCFA, we put the schedule in writing, and we would rather lose a job at the quoting stage than abandon it at window level. That is the whole of our reputation in building and construction in Cameroon and we are careful with it.

There is no secret to any of this. Sites fail because somebody guessed a price, skipped a test or stopped writing things down. Removing those three habits is most of what separates good building and construction in Cameroon from the half finished structures standing on plots in every town in the country.

Services that usually come with this one

Building rarely starts on its own. These three run before or alongside most of our building and construction in Cameroon projects.

Questions about building with us

What clients ask before they commit a plot and a budget to a contractor.

How much does it cost to build a house in Cameroon?

It depends on the size, the finish and the town, so any figure quoted before a site visit is a guess. What we can promise is the method. After the soil test and the drawings we produce a bill of quantities in FCFA covering materials, labour and the timeline, and that document is what you are agreeing to. The cost of building and construction in Cameroon rises fastest when nobody wrote the numbers down at the start.

Can you build in stages as money becomes available?

Yes, and many clients do. We agree stages that end at a sensible point, such as foundation, lintel level, roof or finishing, so the work can pause without the structure suffering. Each stage is quoted separately and nothing starts until that stage is funded. Staged building and construction in Cameroon is normal rather than a sign of trouble, as long as the pauses are planned instead of forced.

I live abroad. How do I know the work is really happening?

You receive dated photographs at every stage, including the foundation and the structure before they are covered, which is exactly where unsupervised sites cut corners. Payments go through official company channels and never to an individual's personal account. A large share of our building and construction in Cameroon work is for owners who are not in the country.

Do I need a soil test if the neighbours built without one?

We will not design a foundation without one. Ground conditions change over very short distances, particularly on sloping and reclaimed land, and the cost of the test is a fraction of the cost of underpinning a building that has started to move. Skipping it is the single most expensive shortcut in building and construction in Cameroon.

Can you take over a building someone else abandoned?

Often, yes. We inspect what is standing, test what we cannot see, and tell you honestly whether it is cheaper to continue or to take it down. Taking over stalled work is a regular part of building and construction in Cameroon and we have no interest in continuing something unsafe.

Do you handle the approvals and permits?

We prepare the drawings to the standard required for submission and guide you through lodging them. Approvals are issued by the council and the relevant ministry, not by us, so we can manage the file and tell you where it stands, but we will never promise a decision that is not ours to give. We also check the title first, because an approval on land you cannot register is worth very little. Sorting that out early keeps building and construction in Cameroon moving instead of stalling at the first inspection.

What happens if something fails after handover?

Every project closes with a written defects period. If something within our workmanship fails during it, we come back and put it right at our cost. That is stated in the agreement rather than promised in conversation.

How do I start, and where are you?
